Arctic Wild: Exploring Alaska's Arctic

Home > The Arctic

ANWR photoHere in the inspiring wilderness between the Brooks Range and the Arctic Ocean, the land is so vast and untamed that salmon swim undammed rivers, and caribou may live and die without ever seeing a human. The arctic is a land of endless summer light and stunning beauty. Each summer we take a few adventurous souls into this wild landscape to watch wildlife, paddle the rivers, hike the tundra and enjoy the profound silence. The arctic is wild, and we would love to share it with you.

In the far north, the summer sun does not set on our wilderness adventures in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the Gates of the Arctic National Park, and the Western Arctic. Without darkness to dictate our activities we are free from hurry and schedule. In the Arctic we feel as if space and time are both infinite. While the summer sun sets sooner south of the Arctic Circle, our Subarctic trips offer the chance to explore wild classics like the famous Yukon-Charley National Preserve.

Arctic Wildlife, Muskox in Arctic AlaskaOur rafting, canoeing, base camp, hiking, and backpacking trips are routed and scheduled around wildlife migrations. That's when we have the best chance of seeing wildlife such as caribou, wolves, grizzly bears, musk oxen, over a hundred bird species, and once in a great while, a wolverine. If you don't see what you're looking for on our schedule, consider letting us help you create a custom trip, tailored to your interests and dates.

Whether your interest is bird watching, hiking, photography, natural history, solitude, a mellow family vacation, or a bona fide wilderness adventure, the arctic has it all. Our trips offer a balance of travel, learning, and the free time necessary to find your own place in the arctic.

When you  join one of our trips, your Alaskan guides will be honored to share with you their depth of arctic experience, their wilderness skills, their minimum-impact ethics, and their love of the land.

Thank you for considering Arctic Wild. We look forward to hearing from you.
