GuideChristian Woodard

Christian grew up reading books, canoeing in the Adirondacks, and racing whitewater kayaks. He started guiding at college in Vermont; he’s since led backcountry trips in the Rockies, Chilean Patagonia, and throughout Alaska. Christian studied poetry in grad school, which means he likes puns and word games. He has also worked as an anthropologist researching subsistence hunting and fishing, on an apple orchard, and as a small town journalist. Currently, his favorite book is “The Living Mountain” by Nan Shepherd; his favorite river is the one we’re about to run. Despite what people say about it, Christian enjoys living in Anchorage.
