David is a passionate naturalist who has dedicated the majority of his life to living and working outdoors. At age 17 he built a log cabin with hand tools and spent most of his twenties exploring the woods. He came to Alaska in 2005 and took to the Alaskan lifestyle of subsistence hunting, fishing, and trapping. He has worked as a fisheries technician, primitive skills instructor, hide tanner and tracker. David enjoys working with his hands with local materials and has made everything from dogsleds, snowshoes, winter fur clothing, to birch bark canoes. He and his wife Jenna and their dog team spend most of their time on a remote homestead on the Tanana River. During the winter, they own and operate Boreal Journeys Alaska, a small dogsled adventure company based in Fairbanks.
